Abstract

The presence of mining in Peru is an essential factor in economic development. In this context, this document aims to apply lichens in mining in high Andean areas of Peru and establish a relationship between mining development and the application of lichens as bioindicators of s pollution. The studies revealed the effectiveness of lichens as bioaccumulator of metals such as lead, zinc, cadmium, nickel, copper, mercury, and chromium. Likewise, the existence of methodologies for heavy metal analysis was verified, and the environmental scanning electron microscope (ESEM), was the most useful in the studies reviewed.
